Exhibitions in Germany

William Blake Retrospective – Tate Gallery
The Tate Britain is to recreate that William Blake’s first and only exhibition – exactly 200 years after it was staged in 1809 – and will bring together at least nine of the surviving 11 works from the 16 in the original show.

Dreamscapes Book and Exhibition – Amsterdam 2008
The new Dreamscape book has been released and I travelled to Amsterdam for the book launch and exhibition. The new Dreamscapes 2009 book represents 52 artists working in imaginary realism from around the world and has 164 pages in full color. As always, the print quality is from the highest level.

Madeline Von Foerster – Waldkammer – Strychnin Gallery Exhibition
With much anticipation that I awaited Madeline Von Foerster’s exhibition at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Her “Waldkammer” series consists of nine paintings that explore humanity’s often destructive relationship with nature, executed in the manner of the Old Masters.

Berliner Kunstsalon and Contemporary Art
In the beginning the Berliner Kunstsalon exhibited much fresh and interesting artwork from many of the local artists who were marginalized in the Berlin art market. However since then it has transformed into the same banal copycat pap seen at all of the other art fairs.

Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School
Tired of life drawing? Tired of drawing the same potatoes that recline on a couch? On Saturday Anja and I sought out different schooling for our figure drawing needs. We enrolled in Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, closeted away in a small club, hidden from street view, in the Graefekiez of Kreuzberg, Berlin.
Surreal Worlds (Surreale Welten) Exhibition Berlin
I travelled to Charlottenburg in the west of Berlin to see the Surreal Worlds, Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection. The collection is a great surprise and contains many well known names in Surrealism. The collection has exquisite examples of surrealistic art by Max Ernst, Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte, and with works by Odilon Redon, Paul Klee and Jean Dubuffet.

Madeline Von Foerster’s Amazon Cabinet
The most entertaining story was how one of Madeline Von Foerster’s artworks, “Amazon Cabinet” was held by customs in Frankfurt Germany, because they thought that it was an Old Master’s artwork and not painted by a living 36 year old American artist.

Luminopolis London
This week I return to London to exhibit my artwork art at Luminopolis with Jarah Tree and Luke Brown. Alex Lee who works with the event had seen my artwork in the Liminal Village at the Boom Festival and invited me along to Luminopolis.

Journey to the Boom Festival
Owing to work commitments and the randomness of available seats on stand-by airline tickets, I departed Berlin for the Boom Festival early Wednesday morning. Perhaps this was a good thing that I left at this time as I later found out that on Monday, opening day many people spent waiting the entire day in the blazing Portuguese sun to enter the festival.
Visionary Art Culture Creators
Boom Festival 2008 is shaping up to be a very potent mix for Visionary arts. The epicentre for this can be found at the Liminal Village where a number of events and activities will take place. I’m looking forward to attending the festival for a number or reasons.

Boom Festival Liminal Village
I’m off to the Boom Festival next August in Portugal to exhibit with other Visionary artists. This August 3-9th. marks the 6th. incarnation of the Boom Festival, a massive global trance culture gathering. For the third time at the Boom Festival, the Liminal Village returns presenting the Vision Gallery.

IFAA Kyoto Exhibition 2008
To our good fortune, the IFAA exhibition had been planned to coincide with the cherry blossom season. The exhibition was situated in one of the popular quarters of Kyoto at the Dohjidai Gallery.
