Every couple of years I give acrylic paints another go. After all, mastering anything comes down to practice. A number of my artist friends rave about acrylics and how fast they dry and allow you to keep working without having to wait.
Well, surprise, you still have to wait. And unlike oils you can’t just keep working the colours into each other until you get a nice transition. I now there are various mediums and I am currently experimenting with a few to achieve some glazing effects.
The above photo tells the story of how one media moved the other underneath while it was still not dry. I had expected the drying to be rapid. However, I may have stumbled upon an interesting technique. It did produce some interesting texture after all.
