Taking Things in Hand

I have been continuing my series of hand studies in oils. I am seeking to bring out the expressiveness of hands through their gestures and lighting.

The face and hands are quintessential features of the human form, and the most expressive. Many people talk with their hands, adding extra emphasis to their verbal communication. Of course the hearing impaired literally talk with their hands. Communicating silently with the hands also plays a role in military combat situations.

However, the gentle touch of another, can be a powerful communicator, saying far more than a thousand words ever could.
