Exhibitions in Germany

After a hiatus it is time to exhibit again. First is a group show with Anja Brinkmann and Micha Krebs just outside of Hamburg. The next will be with the Society for the Art of Imagination. The show is called Sacred Art.

Alex Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors Closes Temporarily

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors (CoSM) in New York will close at the end of this month. While the chapel will close with a New Year’s Eve party, the project will not come to an end.

With much anticipation that I awaited Madeline Von Foerster’s exhibition at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. Her “Waldkammer” series consists of nine paintings that explore humanity’s often destructive relationship with nature, executed in the manner of the Old Masters.

Berliner Kunstsalon and Contemporary Art

In the beginning the Berliner Kunstsalon exhibited much fresh and interesting artwork from many of the local artists who were marginalized in the Berlin art market. However since then it has transformed into the same banal copycat pap seen at all of the other art fairs.

Madeline Von Foerster’s Amazon Cabinet

The most entertaining story was how one of Madeline Von Foerster’s artworks, “Amazon Cabinet” was held by customs in Frankfurt Germany, because they thought that it was an Old Master’s artwork and not painted by a living 36 year old American artist.

Journey to the Boom Festival

Owing to work commitments and the randomness of available seats on stand-by airline tickets, I departed Berlin for the Boom Festival early Wednesday morning. Perhaps this was a good thing that I left at this time as I later found out that on Monday, opening day many people spent waiting the entire day in the blazing Portuguese sun to enter the festival.

Visionary Art Culture Creators

This August 3-9th. marks the 6th. incarnation of the Boom Festival, a massive global trance culture gathering. A Meeting of Minds and Fantastic Visions

After all of this time getting to know Delvin over email and Skype chat sessions, I would finally get to meet him face to face. He was making his way to England to meet with Brigid Marlin of the Society for the Art of Imagination (AOI) to discuss assisting them with their Inscape magazine. I was very happy to offer him a place to stay in my studio while on his travels.

Somewhere between imagination and Berlin lies a special place called Zozoville. The doorway to this land of oddball under the bed monsters, devils and dysfunctionally cute can be found at Mainzer Strasse 21, Friedrichshain, Berlin.

IFAA Kyoto Exhibition 2008

To our good fortune, the IFAA exhibition had been planned to coincide with the cherry blossom season. The exhibition was situated in one of the popular quarters of Kyoto at the Dohjidai Gallery.
