This past weekend I attended the open studios (Rundgang) of the Vienna Academy of the Fine Arts (Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien). In the unending push to remain abreast with the current art trends, the past is cut off and cast aside as worn out worthless rubbish. That is, unless, it earns some money, like the Painting Gallery, which houses valuable Old Masters artworks from Rubens, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Hieronymus Bosch and Titian.
It’s a Tuesday night in Vienna. What to do? Go to the premier opening of the Max Ernst retrospective exhibition in the Albertina, of course. Thanks goes to Celene and Jutta Venosa for making this possible. Otto Rapp and Timea Tallian were also there to gaze, point. Pick the artists!
Those moments of empty minded clarity, when not much is happening, lounging on the obligatory comfy studio sofa, looking at the artwork. In my Vienna studio, two unrelated paintings suddenly took on a new meaning together.
Living in Berlin, I know all of my favourite and interesting corners. So if I want something, I know exactly where to go. For instance coffee. Now I find myself in Vienna and I am on the hunt for good coffee.
This week I ventured out into the subzero temperatures to see the people frolicking on the ice of the frozen canal nearby. It is a world away from the balmy Summer evenings I spent there with friends and a bottle of wine watching the sunset.
Mr. Frost has paid me a visit and shown me his own artistic abilities on my studio windows in the form of some very intricate ice crystal patterns, more often referred to as “Eisblumen” (ice flowers).
Tomorrow morning I am travelling from Berlin to Hamburg to attend the opening of the H.R. Giger Retrospective exhibition. I will be there to photograph and video the event for Fantastic Visions.
Later this month I will be travelling to Paris to attend two exhibitions. The first is the GENSO exhibition organised by Shoji Tanaka and Hugues Gillet.

This past Easter weekend artist and gallery owner Tim Roosen paid me a visit in my studio while he was here on business in Berlin.
My paintings arrived back in Berlin this week from the Chimeria festival in France for our Fantastic Visions exhibition at Colory Gallery, Berlin. While unpacking my Chimeria paintings, I discovered two copies of the Chimeria exhibition catalogue.
I’m excited to announce that I am exhibiting with my good friends in Art, Dennis Konstantin and Micha Krebs in Berlin. We will all be exhibiting in Micha’s Colory studio gallery. Micha with his gallery is again participating this year in the Friedenau Südwestpassagekultour open studio’s weekend. A total of 50 locations have opened their doors for the weekend.
Seeing a brilliant opportunity, at very short notice, Amanda Sage organised an exhibition of Fantastic Visionary artists at Galerie 10, “The Irresistible Flow of Time” at Galerie 10.
Today Dennis Konstantin, Karl Person and I drove all the way from Berlin to Vienna. Dennis and I are exhibiting with a selection of 11 artists from the Fantastic Art movement, this September in Austria at Galerie 10.
Last week I made my way to Hamburg to have a number of my paintings scanned and spend some time with friend and colleague in artistic crimes, Dennis Konstantin.
Mexican digital artist Héctor Pineda came to Berlin to meet with the directors of Abnormals Gallery to discuss a possible future exhibition and meet fellow artists.
In the basement for the past three months a collection of UV artists from the Sinneswandeln project have been busy building a black light mini-golf course.
This Sunday, the fourth of July is the 8th Oberbaumbrücke Open Air Gallery in Berlin and for myself the third time I’ve participated with my artwork. My friend and colleague Micha Colory Krebs will also be at the festival also.
Next week I will be travelling to Viechtach again as the town plays host to the iPaX 2010 International Fantastic Art Exhibition. I was previously in Viechtach for the Dante exhibition last year and I’m very much looking forward to returning to this charming part of Germany again.
This week I return to London to exhibit my artwork art at Luminopolis with Jarah Tree and Luke Brown. Alex Lee who works with the event had seen my artwork in the Liminal Village at the Boom Festival and invited me along to Luminopolis.
